Apple Crostata Paired with Prosecco
Paired with Prosecco
Ingredients:
- Apple Crostata
- 1 Frozen puff pastry sheet
- ½ cup almond paste
- Zest of ½ orange
- Zest of ½ lemon
- ¼ cup sugar
- 3 tsp. flour
- ½ tsp. cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg, preferably fresh ground 3 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
- Strusel Topping
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup soft unsalted butter
- 1/8 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
Directions:
Allow pastry to thaw at room temperature. Mix apples, spices, flour, sugar, salt and zest together. Spread the almond paste on the puff pastry. Pour the apple mixture on to the center of the puff pastry and spread it out to within 3 inches of the sides. Combine all strusel toppings in a small bowl. Mix until all ingredients together until crumbly. Sprinkle mixture on top of the apples.Fold the sides over the apples and bake in a 350° oven for 50 minutes or until brown.
Suggested wine pairing: Santa Margherita Chianti Classico has rich ripe berry characteristics that contrast nicely with the earthy flavors in the rapini.
